The WePROTECT Global Alliance to End Online Child Sexual Exploitation was formed by the merger of the UK Government’s WePROTECT Initiative and the Global Alliance Against Child Sexual Exploitation. Using a global, multi-stakeholder approach, these efforts were founded with the aim of eradicating online child abuse content worldwide. Learn more about the history of WePROTECT here.

The Global Kids Online project, launched at the Children’s Lives in the Digital Age seminar held at UNICEF Headquarters in New York, aims to build a global network of researchers investigating the risks and opportunities of child internet use. The Global Kids Online website makes high quality, flexible research tools freely available worldwide.
The Family Online Safety Institute launched the new and revised GRID portal at the House of Lords, hosted with the support of Baroness Joanna Shields, UK Minister for Internet Safety and Security. GRID was created in partnership with UNICEF under the first round of WePROTECT funding. The platform provides a comprehensive comparison of online safety efforts in every country worldwide.

UK Home Secretary Theresa May and Baroness Joanna Shield, Minister for Internet Safety and Security, hosted the first WePROTECT Global Alliance Advisory Board meeting. Following an initial announcement at the second WePROTECT Summit, the merger has now been formalized by the US, UK and EU Commission, and the Board will include representatives from governments, lawe enforcement, NGOs, and leading industry companies.
